Entry level study materials for use at the school level!

  • For classroom, grade level and school spelling bees, students learn a list of 50 study words. When students master the 50 study words, they further prepare for spelling competition by learning the study words for other grade levels.
  • Study words are available for grades 1–8. Students obtain the study words from you. You obtain study words by logging into the password-protected section of spellingbee.com and printing one-page study sheets for your students.

What about Spell It!—the study booklet and Web site?

  • Spell It!, a collaborative effort of Merriam-Webster and the Scripps National Spelling Bee, is the official study source for school spelling champions. The student who will represent your school at a district, county, city, regional or state spelling bee should study Spell It!   • No Spell It! words appear on competition word lists that the Scripps National Spelling Bee has designed for use at the classroom, grade or school level.
