O Canada

Since first participating in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in 2005, Canadian spellers have made strong showings, including consecutive second place finishes by Finola Hackett and Nate Gartke in 2006 and 2007, respectively. Laura Newcombe placed fifth in the 2010 Scripps National Spelling Bee and will return to compete again this year.
